Novonesis and Carbios welcome the European Commission's initiative to establish sustainability criteria for plastic recycling technologies under the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation. Setting a clear and science-based framework for how recycling technologies are assessed is essential if Europe is to meet the recycled-content targets of the PPWR, strengthen the circularity and competitiveness of its plastics value chains, and reduce its dependence on virgin fossil feedstocks.
