The European Mortar Industry Organisation (EMO) welcomes the draft Commission Delegated Decision introducing an exemption for plastic wrapping and straps from the 100 % reuse requirements laid down in Article 29(2) and (3) of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR). However, it is essential that this exemption is also extended to Article 29(1). While the sector is committed to reducing transport packaging wherever possible, plastic wrappings (stretch or shrink wrap) and/or straps remain indispensable for certain products and delivery formats. With the upcoming Construction Products Regulation (EU) 2024/3110, manufacturers of products covered by harmonised standardscurrently under review as part of the CPR Acquis revisionwill soon be able to provide harmonised environmental product information alongside other essential characteristics. The European Mortar Industry Organisation welcomes this important step towards ensuring that construction works are safe, healthy, durable, and sustainable.
