E.ON appreciates the opportunity to provide feedback regarding the report on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 1: Processing of pseudonymised personal data shall be permitted whenever a strong pseudonymisation method is applied, not only for predefined purposes (Art. 6, section 1) but also for other purposes such as developing new products. Consequently, binding recommendations of strong pseudonymisation concepts shall be provided by competent bodies. As an operator of critical infrastructure and service provider to around 50 million customers we take our elevated responsibility for data protection very seriously. We have taken all steps necessary to comply with the General Data Protection Regulation including revising data protection contracts and other documents, informing all relevant parties, and reviewing our data breach process. We also put in place a Data Protection Management System which provides guidance on data protection issues and ensures we take a structured, coordinated, consistent approach to data protection across our company.
