· We welcome the initiative to simplify and clarify reporting obligations under the Directive on Administrative Cooperation (DAC), and potentially consolidate various provisions into a single Directive for greater clarity. · We note that recasting the DAC could help reduce the reporting burden on both large companies and SMEs, as well as tax administrations. This is positive, provided it does not increase the risk of tax avoidance or reduce tax revenues. Oxfam, an international NGO dedicated to ending poverty, fighting inequality, and promoting social justice, human rights, and sustainable development, is deeply concerned about the ongoing efforts to weaken groundbreaking EU regulations designed to protect nature and human rights, under the guise of simplification. Our work spans numerous policy areas related to EU legislative proposals including climate change (CSRD and CSDDD Omnibus), Trade (Unfair Trading Practices Directive), inequality and tax (Tax Omnibus), gender justice (GAP IV), migration (Migration Pact), development policy and finance (MFF), and the provision of humanitarian assistance to victims of conflicts and natural disasters.
The EU office works together with Oxfam’s nine European affiliates in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Belgium,The Netherlands and Denmark. We also join forces with allied NGOs and civil society organizations.
