The Federation of European Publishers (FEP) is the umbrella association of book publishers in the European Union and the voice of the great majority of publishers in Europe. FEP represents 31 national associations of publishers of books, learned journals and educational materials of the European Union, the European Economic Area and other European countries. FEP appreciate the opportunity to provide feedback on the rules on national registers of producers under the PPWR. European publishers are fully committed to minimising their supply chains contribution to global deforestation. Today, a vast majority of paper used to produce their books is certified. European publishers invest in technology to improve sales forecasts, thus optimising print runs and paper consumption, and the environmental impact of distribution. While publishers have worked hard to prepare for the EUDR, it has become clear that it imposes a disproportionate burden on players in the book supply chain.
