Stichting Verpact

Verpact supports a single, harmonised and practical EU methodology for calculating and verifying recycled content in plastic packaging. Based on our experience in the Netherlands, we consider clear rules on the calculation and aggregation level, data availability, responsibilities across the value chain, chain of custody, acceptable evidence and the recognition of existing certification systems particularly important. The methodology should provide reliable assurance while making effective use of existing data and verification systems and avoiding unnecessary administrative burdens, duplicate certification and reporting requirements.

Verpact thanks the European Commission for the public consultation. As PRO for packaging in the Netherlands, this draft Implementing Regulation is of importance for our activities. Our full reaction can be read in the attached document. A small summary is given below. Our intention is to come to a system and infrastructure, in which the reporting obligations for producers, PROs and registers of producers are as lean as possible, in a system or environment that provides suffient data security.
