As a manufacturer of forestry and gardening machines we support the replacement of the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive by a regulation with binding rules in all MS (member states of the EU). Currently, more and more MS have enacted binding, country-specific and complex legislation (e.g. TRIMAN in France) for sorting information of packaging waste. These requirements can only be met by additional country-specific labelling of packaging with information on the sorting of packaging waste. The additional waste generated by more accurate disposal descriptions is not the ambition of the MS, but rather a legal necessity to comply with local laws.
